Monday 10th Booth opening – Meeting with Prime, Seven Media’s team and Introducing the book with Luna Harrington.
I am comfortably seated before an interview of about 20 minutes on the content of my book and on the particular difficulties encountered in the realization of this work.

During the last day, each author had the opportunity to present their work to a diverse audience.
Fortunately, we had a microphone to express ourselves, because there was noise in the exhibition hall.
The Synagogue and the Church: Filiation, Divorce, and Reconciliation
The topic of relations between the Synagogue and the Church has become prominent in religious, historical, and sociological debates. It is animated by theologians, historians and sociologists whose list is very long. Among them, there is the prominent figure of, Jules Isaac who with his fundamental books: “The teaching of contempt” followed by this in the form of a question, “Does antisemitism have Christian roots?” and also from, “Jesus and Israel”. He was one of the very first to explore in extenso the religious causes of the tearing that occurred over the centuries, between these two distinct entities and yet so close to each other by their purpose as a place of worship to the same God. It seemed interesting to me to highlight the three major periods of their respective evolution, namely: their genesis to one and the other, then the painful divorce that permanently separated their destiny. Finally, in a third part, I wanted to evoke the ways of reconciliation and mutual communion so highly desirable for peace and concord between religions and beyond in society as a whole.

Le sujet des relations entre la Synagogue et l’Église s’est imposé dans les débats religieux, historiques et sociologiques. Il est animé par des théologiens, historiens et sociologues dont la liste est fort longue. Il fallait en effet, à la suite des jugements du tribunal de Nuremberg en 1946, examiner en profondeur les causes premières et leurs conséquences dans ce monstrueux conflit qui a fait tant de victimes et parmi elles tant sont juives. Dans la liste de ces spécialistes, il y a Jules Isaac qui avec ses livres fondamentaux : “L’enseignement du mépris” suivi de celui-ci en forme de question, “L’antisémitisme a-t-il des racines chrétiennes ?” et aussi de, “Jésus et Israël”. Il a été l’un des tous premiers à explorer in extenso les causes religieuses du déchirement survenu au cours des siècles, entre ces deux entités distinctes. Elles sont si proches l’une de l’autre cependant, ne serait-ce que par l’étymologie de leur nom, l’une en grec dérivée de “Sunagôgê” et l’autre en latin, “Ecclésia”, toutes les deux signifient : “assemblée”. Elles sont si proches également par leur finalité en tant que lieu du culte au même Dieu : unique, créateur, sauveur d’Israël et par la “Nouvelle Alliance”, de l’humanité tout entière. Avec cette première idée de base, il m’a paru intéressant de mettre en relief les trois périodes majeures de leur évolution respective à savoir : leur genèse à l’une et à l’autre, puis le divorce douloureux qui a séparé durablement leur destin. Enfin dans une troisième partie, j’ai voulu évoquer les voies de la réconciliation et de la communion mutuelle si hautement désirable pour la paix et la concorde entre les religions et au-delà dans la société tout entière. Ces trois périodes justifient le titre du livre : “Filiation, Divorce et Réconciliation”. Pour rendre compte de façon crédible, de ce long parcours dans le temps par ces quelques pages, il fallait naturellement être très synthétique, multiplier les raccourcis, enjamber les siècles sans jamais perdre le fil conducteur ; j’espère y être parvenu.
